Andy is recognised as one of the
most versatile bass players in the UK.
Since the 90s he has continually toured every
kind of venue in the UK & beyond, in bands & shows of all types & every genre, live and studio sessions,
& was often found in the pit at the London West End production of "We Will Rock You".
His most recent work includes live & studio sessions with Ivor Novello winner and Grammy nominee Chris Braide
& keyboard legend Geoff Downes.
This is the 5th studio album from Downes Braide Association, and the 3rd that Andy has played bass on. Written & produced by Chris Braide and Geoff Downes, the collection spans many genres and themes, and is already making substantial waves in the prog world.
Released in September 2023, it's available in all formats.
The second single from Celestial Songs was co-written by Chris and Geoff with Francis Dunnery.
The first single from Celestial Songs was a top 10 hit on the UK Heritage Chart.
The third track to come off this exceptional album.
“Andy Hodge is very much an integral part of this unit. When we send him stuff to play, he has incredible feeling and creates a more interesting bass part than we could have thought of ourselves."
"Whenever I receive the next batch of ideas from Geoff & Chris, it feels like Christmas! From the outset, there are always so many ideas to work with: melody, harmony, rhythm, lyrics - it's all going on! They may give me a few general pointers, but I just work through the structure, making notes, honing a part, and eventually send it back to them.
With this album, we worked through more different versions of songs than on any previous DBA album. I think the results reflect that tireless effort and dedication. I love it!"
Performing alongside global luminaries Marc Almond, Chris Braide, Ash Soan, Neal X, and special guest Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson at the prestigious Royal Festival Hall was a tremendous pleasure for Andy.
The live recording of the entire concert is now available to buy:
